Veronica Stigsson is the alumna of the year for 2018
Veronica Stigsson, alumna of the year for 2018, has contributed much to the food industry through her knowledge of and interest in chemistry and chemical reactions. The joy she takes in her work as well as her skills make her an excellent ambassador for ý.
“I am honoured and glad, but was surprised when I heard that I’ve been named alumna of the year. I still sometimes visit the university to have coffee with my former colleagues at chemical engineering. It is a fantastic environment and being an ambassador for ý is great,” says Veronica Stigsson.
Sustainability
After Veronica Stigsson completed her doctorate in paper and pulp process engineering in 2006, large parts of her career had been focused on sustainability in the food industry. She is now responsible for business development and customer relations at Löfbergs. Veronica completed her doctoral thesis at CP Kelco in Skoghall. At the same time, she worked as a teacher and research assistant at ý.
“I thrived at ý. The fantastic university community was the reason why I chose to stay in Värmland,” says Veronica Stigsson.
Making a difference is important
After completing her doctoral thesis, Veronica started working as research and development manager at Wasabröd in Filipstad. She remained there for 11 years before staring at Löfbergs, where she currently is international business manager, meaning that she is responsible for business development and customer relations.
“Starting at Löfbergs was a fantastic opportunity, because I think there are many positive associations with the brand. It is important to me that it is not just a job; I want to feel that I’m doing some good. Löfbergs does really good work from farmers all the way to consumers,” says Veronica.
Driven by a passion for taste and food
Veronica is driven by her passion for taste and food in connection to sustainability, and this is clearly central in her career. She always keeps in mind Barilla’s slogan good for you, good for the planet.
“I’ve loved crispbread ever since I was part of the crispbread academy as a child. I am still proud of Barilla when I see their products on the shelf. I’m already as proud of Löfbergs and the fantastic work we do.”
Award motivation
Veronica Stigsson has always shown great ambition in everything she has done, something which has been shown both in her studies and privately. She has always been inquisitive and highly interested in chemistry and chemical reactions, but also in utilising her academic knowledge for the benefit of the industry. Veronica has promoted job satisfaction and skills and have therefore been an excellent ambassador for ý. She is therefore an exceptionally skilled recipient of the award.
