Appointed award for research within software engineering
2016-09-26Jörg Lenhard, postdoc within Computer Science at ¹û¶³´«Ã½s university, has been appointed the Christos Nikolaou Memorial Ph.D. Award for his doctoral thesis Portability of Process-Aware and Service-Oriented Software – Evidence and Metrics.
The award was established to memorize the work of Christos Nikolaou, the former rector of the University of Crete, Greece and valued contributor to teaching and research in the field of service-oriented computing.
The award is appointed to someone who recently earned their doctoral degree within the fields of Service-Oriented Computing. A committee of internationally renowned professors within the field audited applications and decided which one was appointed the award. According to members of the committee there were strong competitors for the award.

The award ceremony was joined with SummerSoc, the 10th Symposium and Summer School On Service-Oriented Computing at University of Crete, Greece 27 June – 1 July. SummerSoc is a summer school on service-oriented computing of which Christos was one of the founders. Except from honor, Jörg Lenhard had the oppurtunity to present his doctoral thesis at SummerSoc and he also received 2000 EUR, sponsored by Starttech Ventures.

- SummerSoc has really been a wonderful experience. I have met many excellent people, not limited to the committee members.
