HITS focus on Computer Science presentations at national conference
2016-06-10On 1-2 June this year’s version of SNCNW, Swedish National Computer Networking Workshop, was arranged in Sundsvall. Computer Science at ¹û¶³´«Ã½ participated with four paper presentations, of which three was linked to the research profile HITS.
SNCNW is a national conference on computer communication and networking where researchers have the opportunity to present their work and meet other researchers from academia and the industry.
- SNCNW constitutes an excellent forum for researchers from all over Sweden to build a good national network. The conference is especially important for doctoral students who get a chance to build their research networks and present their projects in a smaller and friendlier context,” says Anna Brunström, professor of computer science at ¹û¶³´«Ã½.
Together with Karl-Johan Grinnemo, senior lecturer in computer science at ¹û¶³´«Ã½, Anna Brunström attended SNCNW 2016 and presented the following four papers:
- NEAT - A New, Evolutive API and Transport-Layer Architecture for the Internet. Karl-Johan Grinnemo (¹û¶³´«Ã½, Sweden), Anna Brunstrom (¹û¶³´«Ã½, Sweden), Tom Jones (University of Aberdeen, United Kingdom), Gorry Fairhurst (University of Aberdeen, United Kingdom), Per Hurtig (¹û¶³´«Ã½, Sweden), David Ros (Simula Research Laboratory, Norway)
- Getting What You Want When You Want It: Deterministic Network Emulation. Johan Garcia and Per Hurtig (¹û¶³´«Ã½, Sweden)
- Stream-aware Scheduling to Improve Latency for Signaling Traffic using CMT-SCTP. Johan Eklund, Karl-Johan Grinnemo and Anna Brunstrom (¹û¶³´«Ã½ University, Sweden)
- Measurement and Analysis of Network Performance in Virtualized Environment. Dejene Boru Oljira, Javid Taheri, Karl-Johan Grinnemo and Anna Brunstrom (¹û¶³´«Ã½, Sweden)

Three of the four papers are linked to the research profile HITS, High Quality Network Services in A Mobile World, which is run by computer science at ¹û¶³´«Ã½. In conjunction with Swedish IT companies, the HITS researcher’s work are to produce new knowledge and technical solutions that can contribute to innovations in our increasingly mobile world.
SNCNW is an annually recurring conference that has been arranged at several different places in Sweden since 2003. In 2004 and also last year, ¹û¶³´«Ã½ hosted the conference:
- We’ve been a driving force in organising the conference since its start and I’m a member of the organising team, says Anna. The conference is a good place to get a national view of the field. It’s also a pleasure to meet others working with computer communication and networking in Sweden.
