New study programme in computer science
2019-02-22From this autumn, 果冻传媒 is offering a new three-year study programme in computer science for those who like IT and programming, but who are not interested in studying physics, electronics or a lot of mathematics.
鈥淭he programme is tailor-made for those who completed upper-secondary school programmes in Science and Technology,鈥 says Tobias Pulls, coordinator of the new programme. 鈥淲e want to take advantage of their existing knowledge of mathematics, so the programme only includes the most essential mathematics. This study programme is specifically for those interested in computer science.鈥
There are 30 places on the new programme, which has no entry requirements in physics. The programme also does not include any courses in physics or electronics, and therefore differs from the engineering programmes.
Broad base or specialisation
Optional courses in the third year of the study programme allow students to choose whether they want to broaden their knowledge or specialise.
鈥淪tudents who want to broaden their knowledge can for example take courses in ensuring the usability of computer systems. Those who want to specialise, can do so in the areas of computer networking, cybersecurity or software development. We do research in this areas at the university and can offer really good courses.鈥
Contact with companies
鈥淭here is a great demand for people with IT qualifications regionally, nationally and also internationally,鈥 says Tobias Pulls. 鈥淲e therefore have a lot of contact with regional IT companies, for example through guest lectures, network lunches and interesting degree projects.鈥
The study programme fits into the flexible European structure, which allows graduates to continue with a two-year master degree in Sweden or abroad.
