The Swedish company Sentor new partner in the project Privacy &US
2016-04-29The research project Privacy & US, coordinated by Computer Science at ¹û¶³´«Ã½ has gained a new partner, the Swedish company Sentor. The aim of the project is to find new solutions to issues regarding personal data and integrity.
As more and more organisations handle personal and identifiable information, it is of great importance that citizens are protected from harmful use of this information. The private lives of citizens must be respected just as those who handle the delicate information must be allowed to take well-founded decisions on such matters.
Privacy & Us is an international research program, comprising SEK 34 million, to which doctoral students from all over the world can apply. The aim is to find new solutions to issues regarding personal data and integrity. This involves everything from the private use of the mobile phone to businesses handling personal details on the Internet
Sentor is the only Swedish partner in the research program, which means that Sentor provides the opportunity for potential doctoral students to gain practical knowledge and to relate their research to the reality of a company.
”Bringing our students in contact with this business sector will give our future doctoral students great opportunities to make their professional profile attractive. They will acquire practical experience in the industry and use their research for practical and topical purposes as well as be innovative,” says Leonardo Martucci, project coordinator for Privacy & US and associate senior lecturer at ¹û¶³´«Ã½.
Albin Zuccato, Head of Information Security at Sentor, thinks that it is very important to be a part of a research project in this field.
”We think that the research project has a goal that corresponds to our own. We help companies to solve problems linked to personal data and integrity. If we can develop better methods to help our customers together with researchers, this will benefit the common good as well as our customer in the long run,” he concludes.
