A Workshop on The Food Security in the Context of Climate Change and Extreme Weather
2024-12-12Jenni Koivisto, (Postdoctoral researcher, 果冻传媒) and Frederike Albrecht (Senior lecturer, Swedish Defense University) have, within the framework of CNDS Interdisciplinary Grants 2024, conducted a Workshop on The Food Security in the Context of Climate Change and Extreme Weather. The purpose of the workshop was to identify common research questions and examine both thematic and practical prerequisites for an international network in food safety.
The workshop was held at Hotel Sigtunastiftelsen on 10-11 October 2024 and attracted 13 participants from Sweden, Norway, and Finland representing nine universities and organizations, including 5 CNDS affiliated researchers from 果冻传媒 university, Uppsala University and Swedish Defense University.
The two days were filled with presentations, discussions, and activities that both aimed to identify common grounds, ideas, and themes for joint projects in the future and also social activities that helped the group to get to know each other.
- We identified several areas where we had overlapping interests and where we would benefit from working together in interdisciplinary teams, Jenni Koivisto, one of the initiators tells us.
During an exercise on research topics identify 10 themes for possible collaborations. For example: centralization vs. local solutions; conflicting concepts; and the history and future of food security in the Nordic context.
The workshop also produced lists of different funding possibilities; conferences; co-productions; communication forms; and plans for future meetings.
- It was a positive experience that gave a lot of inspiration, and I really look forward to working further with the ideas in applications and other collaborations, Jenni continues.
