Helén Williams speaks for the climate on September 27
2019-09-25September 27, is the last day of Global Week for Future, a global climate week organised by the school strike movement Fridays For Future. The week ends with a global climate strike where adults are invited to participate to pressure politicians to act in the ongoing climate crisis. Researcher Helén Williams will give a talk at Stora torget in ¹û¶³´«Ã½ to show her support.
"It is important to me to be on site and show my commitment. I will give a talk at 12.00 about the climate change and the importance of collaboration to find solutions. In our way forward, we need to utilize new technology, but also make changes in our behavior - how we consume and use the earth's resources. We also need to show trust and love for each other and in these times, when more and more people are doubting whether it is possible to achieve the climate goals, we also need to talk about hope", says Helén Williams, Associate Professor of Environmental and Energy systems. "We, as researchers, need to be seen in the community in order to support and contribute with knowledge."
The role of the academy in the era of climate change
Helén Williams is not the only one at ¹û¶³´«Ã½ who responds to the call from the Friday for Future movement. This coming Friday, a panel debate will be held at ¹û¶³´«Ã½, where researchers from various disciplines and with various specialized knowledge will highlight the climate and environmental issues, among others, Fredrik Wikström from CTF.
The panel discussion "The role of the Academy in the time of climate change" will be held at Gläntan at ¹û¶³´«Ã½ at 13-15-15.00, and is open to the public.
