Hello, Antoine Bordas
2024-05-24Antoine Bordas, PhD, tell us about your previous work
– I am currently 3rd year PhD student, under the supervision of Pascal Le Masson and Benoit Weil at Mines Paris - PSL, France, I hold an engineering degree from Mines Paris - PSL, specialized in engineering design and innovation management. Prior to this diploma, I studied at Ecole Normale Supérieure Paris-Saclay where I obtained a master’s degree in mathematics, specialized in probability and statistics.
– My research interest lies at the intersection of these three disciplines, especially focusing on two issues: value generation from data in organizations, looking in particular at the role of anomalies in this process, and generative as well as creative endeavors of artificial intelligence.
Tell us about your work at CTF
– Here at CTF I worked on my PhD thesis, writing a first version of the manuscript. I also did some writing both for conference and journal papers since I had some reviews back. I had the opportunity to give a presentation during CTF seminar, which was a great opportunity to discuss my work and get a different perspective. Moreover, I worked closely with Alexandre, what leads us among others to some publication projects together.
What have been your expectations of joining CTF?
– When joining CTF for this visiting I expected to find a friendly atmosphere in which I could write, both the thesis manuscript and journal papers. On top of writing and most of all, I expected to discuss, exchange and find projects on which to collaborate in the not so distant future with researchers from CTF. I was also eager to discover a new institution with new ways of working, different from what I know in Paris, and meet new researchers. After several weeks here, I can say now that all my expectations have been met, and even exceeded.
Are there any experiences at CTF that you would like to share?
– I will leave CTF with many great experiences and memories, that is for sure! To mention just a few, I was amazed by the traditional fika break with everyone gathering in the so-called fika room to chat around a coffee (and a huge breakfast on Fridays), which is for me a proof of the friendly atmosphere that reigns here. I quickly got into this habit, leading to diverse and nice talks on sports and Olympic Games, Swedish history or academia’s life.
You will stay here until June, what´s next for you
– June is often a period of conferences and I will have the opportunity to present some of my work in various ones. Then, the summer is expected to be studious since it will be dedicated to the writing of the final manuscript. After the defense, in the long term, I hope to continue in the academia and hopefully pursue collaborating with CTF.
