New Technology for better customer experience and increased loyalty in retail
2014-09-03Imagine that you are passing by the store window and through a message in your cell phone you are welcomed into the store, and you also get an offer to buy three products for the price of two. Or, you can easily find your way back to your parked car even though you forgot on which level you parked. Small solutions to enhance your shopping experience is made possible by a special technique.
In an ongoing project CTF, Service Research Center at ¹û¶³´«Ã½, in collaboration with Stamford, have been performing tests with the iBeacon, the new Bluetooth low energy technology that Apple launched in the fall of 2013. CTF and Stamford have evaluated the technology in consultation with leading players in the retail sector.
This technology enables a totally new kind of communication between customer and company. It can simply be described as a kind of GPS where your cell phone picks up information from different iBeacon transmitters that conveys relevant information and offers based on your location, says Erik Wästlund, Senior Lecturer in Psychology. Furthermore, Erik says, CTF is very positive to the collaboration with Stamford the possibility to test new technology together with a local IT company in ¹û¶³´«Ã½.
The technology can be used to provide information to customers on selected products and the latest offers, locate customers who call for help from the staff at the store and to analyze selected zones in stores, to for example measure how frequent a site has been visited. The use of proximity recognition Bluetooth technology is meant to serve as a complement to the existing business. The technology doesn’t replace anything but add value to both the customer and the company.
- With this technology will we be able to deliver a solution that provides our customers with new digital channels to increase sales and strengthen the customer loyalty, says Conny Rexed, CEO at Stamford.
