Praised doctoral dissertation in consumer psychology
2019-08-23Tobias Otterbring, former PhD student at CTF, today researcher at Aarhus University in Denmark and visiting researcher at CTF, has been awarded the 2018 Emerald/EFMD Outstanding Doctoral Research Award for his doctoral dissertation.
"I am honored that my work attracts international attention. At the same time it shows that the research conducted at CTF is world-class. The attention has contributed to me receiving assignments as a guest editor for scientific journals and the opportunity to raise research questions that I think should be prioritized", says Tobias Otterbring.
In the doctoral dissertation "A shaken self on shopping: consumer threats and compensatory consumption" Tobias Otterbring has studied how various factors activate emotions such as rivalry and threats in consumers and how this in turn affects their buying and choice behavior.
The winners of this award are presented annually by Emerald and EFMD, The European Foundation for Management Development, for outstanding doctoral dissertations with the aim of highlighting excellent research at the doctoral level.
