Building and Urban Planning
5.0 ECTS creditsInstruction is in the form of lectures, exercises, seminars, and hand-in assignments. Attendance is mandatory for some exercises. The course may include field trips and city walking tours.
The course covers the following elements:
Residential planning:
- Aesthetics - good architecture
- Architectural history, the history of residence
- Area and volume requirements and room design for residential and other types of buildings
- Standards and regulations
- Planning and projection
Urban planning:
- History: Societal functions and ideas in retrospect
- Current conditions for planning: the Planning and Building Act (Sw. "Plan- och bygglagen"), comprehensive plan and detailed development plan, and sustainable urban planning
- Area planning

Admission requirements
Registered for Sustainable Development for Engineering, 7.5 ECTS credits, and Introduction to Building Engineering, 7.5 ECTS credits, or enrollment in the study programme in Building and Construction Engineering, or equivalent
Selection:
Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
