Main instrument I, Western classical music
15.0 ECTS creditsStudents rehearse, interpret, and perform a chosen repertoire in Western classical music on their main instrument. The course includes the description, study, and practical application of repertoire, style, and interpretation as well as descriptions of methods for rehearsing and performing. The history and development of the main instrument in the Western classical music tradition is treated. Students also study and practice basic technical exercises and methods for rehearsing and performing a chosen repertoire and train sight-reading of simple to intermediate level music notations. Students play repertoire for basic instrumental skills. Parts of the repertoire are performed in in-house concerts. Students also reflect upon music learning and approaches to music. Instruction is in the form of individual tutorials, seminars, and master classes.
