Main instrument VI, Western classical music
15.0 ECTS creditsStudents study, interpret, and perform a varied repertoire in terms of epochs and styles in Western classical music as well as music genres performed in other artistic contexts, on their main instrument. They also analyse and problematise as well as apply repertoire, style, musical analysis, and interpretation in relation to different conventions of musical performance. Presentations and applications of complex technical exercises are included. Students play demanding music repertoire requiring highly developed technical skills at a high musical level and extensive familiarity with style and performance praxis. Parts of the repertoire are performed in concerts. The course also includes discussion of methodological challenges and problems in studying and performing music, critical reflection and problematisation of different approaches to music making as well as conversation on skills in relation to professional demands.
