General Education Studies: Degree Project
15.0 ECTS creditsThe course consists of an independent project documented in an essay and defended at a seminar and active participation in the seminar group. The degree project topic is chosen by the student in consultation with the supervisor. Supervisor and student maintain contact throughout the project period.
The course also covers research methodology and theory of science, based on articles.
The degree project requires:
- specifying problem, aim and research questions
- analytical specification and development of purpose based on background literature
- choosing approach and method
- collecting, analysing and compiling empirical material
- analysis and discussion of material in relation to theory, aim and research questions
- relevant ethical considerations
- a written presentation of the investigation
The final product must have a logical disposition and be clearly written in Swedish, or another language on approval by the examiner. Consistent use of standard norms for presenting material and making references (notes and bibliography) is required.
On the approval of the supervisor, the completed essay is submitted to the seminar where it is peer reviewed and discussed by the seminar participants. Students are responsible for the printing and distribution of the required number of the essay prior to the seminar.

Completed General Educational Studies 1-60 ECTS cr plus one completed major (210 ECTS cr programme students) or two completed majors (270 ECTS cr programme students)
Selection:
Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
