Surface Technology and Tribology
7.5 ECTS creditsA reduction of friction and wear leads to an increase in life of components and savings in money, energy and raw materials. Tribology is the science of friction, wear and lubrication. This course discusses tribology in industrial applications from a materials perspective. The properties of the interacting surfaces are crucial to the performance of a tribosystem and different surface treatments are used to solve tribological problems. Some commonly used surface treatments are therefore also included in the course.
