Labour economics
7.5 ECTS creditsThe course covers the theory and practice of:
-The supply and demand for labour
-Wage formation: compensating wage differences, human capital and efficiency wages and labour market organisations
-Education and the labour market
-Gender differences in the labour market
-Migration, integration and discrimination in the labour market
-Causes and consequences of unemployment
-Active and passive labour market policy
In the empirical part of the course, special emphasis is given to conditions and institutions of the Swedish labour market, and comparisons are made with conditions and institutions in other countries.
Instruction is in the form of lectures and student presentations of selected course literature in the seminars.
