Political Theory
7.5 ECTS creditsDifferent theoretical perspectives on societal development and political systems with an emphasis on contemporary forms of political theory are treated. Concepts such as politics, power, governance, state, knowledge, market, democracy and citizenship are discussed on the basis of various perspectives. Students develop their ability to discuss different theoretical perspectives in relation to each other, to assess and reflect on the implications of applying different theoretical perspectives and to apply theories to current political processes and phenomena.
Instruction is in the form of lectures and seminars where some of the seminars are chaired by the students. Student performance is assessed in all seminars which means that attendance is mandatory. Students are expected to contribute qualified analytical comments to the discussion and to chair a seminar discussion. Individual essays are also assessed.

Political Science including an independent project on the G2F level. Upper secondary school levelSwedish 3 or B or Swedish as a second language 3 or B, or equivalent and English 6 or B, or equivalent.

Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
