Bachelor and Master degrees in English
You can apply for Bachelor and Master courses without being enrolled in a specific programme. We offer a sufficient number of individual courses at Bachelor level to allow you to complete a Bachelor degree (Kandidatexamen) with a major in English, and our courses at Master level enable you to fulfil the requirements of a Master degree with a specialisation in English literature or linguistics.
Bachelor degree
A Bachelor degree with a major in English can lead to more traditional career paths, such as English language teaching, as well as open doors and create career opportunities in many other areas.
It consists of first cycle studies with at least 90 ECTS credits in English. All our courses are offered in both campus and distance modes, to allow you flexibility in your learning. If you plan to study at 100% (i.e. full-time), we recommend that you complete the 30 ECTS credits courses English A, English B, and English C. You can also study part-time (at 25%, 50%, or 75%), in which case you select the modules that are included in English A, B, and C as independent courses. Each of these modules is worth 7.5 ECTS credits, except for the independent degree project that you complete towards the end of your studies*. This independent degree project is worth 15 ECTS credits and gives you the choice to specialise in the area of English studies you find most appealing, English linguistics or English literature.
For more information on our courses, see our list of Bachelor courses.听If you are planning on studying part-time, we recommend that you devise an individual study plan for yourself, as many courses are offered annually and hence planning ahead is important.
*If you are studying towards a Bachelor degree in English, we recommend that you start by taking English A and B before doing your minor studies and that you do English C, which includes your degree project, in your last semester.
