Linda Bergkvist, new docent in information systems: “I want to help organisations and individuals navigate the digital world”
2024-12-19Hello there Linda, and congratulations on your new title as docent! Can you tell us about your research?
"Thank you! My research focuses on systematic and user-centred digitalisation with an emphasis on increasing knowledge about how organisations can harness the opportunities of digitalisation in a sustainable and value-creating way. Among other things, I investigate how digital technology can be used in interaction with organisations and individuals to create value-added services, products and processes. For example, I study how patients or citizens can be involved in the co-creation of digital solutions, what affects their experiences of these solutions, and challenges that may arise during implementation. I also explore how agile principles can be integrated into digital transformation processes, and how it can strengthen the innovation capabilities of organisations."
What makes this important?
"Digitalisation is one of the great opportunities and challenges of our time, for both the private and public sectors. Many organisations are faced with the question: How can we digitalise to create real value? My research aims to provide organisations with tools and insights to apply a more systematic and user-centred approach. By understanding the user’s needs and perspectives, we can develop solutions that are adapted to reality and work in practice."
How do you conduct your research?
"I work in close collaboration with actors from both the private and public sectors. My research is based on their perceived problems, needs and opportunities."
What are you working on right now?
"I’m currently participating in a project where we are investigating how organisations can evaluate and assess the benefits of digital health solutions. I also want to continue exploring how agile principles can be applied in organisations as they work on digital transformation. At the same time, I’m committed to continuing professional development and lifelong learning."
What drives you in your research?
" I’m passionate about collaborating with organisations and individuals to develop knowledge that contributes to more sustainable solutions at the societal, organisational and individual levels. I hope that my research will provide organisations with better tools and conditions for working with digitalisation in a sustainable and value-creating way. I also want to contribute to increased societal value by helping individuals and organisations navigate our increasingly digitalised world."
"In the future, I would like to focus even more on societal and systemic perspectives on digitalisation, especially when it comes to designing inter-organisational processes and services with the user’s needs and experiences in focus. It also feels important to continue spreading my research findings, both in teaching and in research – in collaboration with the wider community."
