Karin Ahlin is a senior lecturer in information systems and a new postdoctoral researcher at CTF and ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Business School. Over the next two years, she will investigate how health data can be used to create better health for individuals and more efficient processes in health care.
Hello Karin! Can you tell us about your background?
- Most recently, I come from a senior lecturer position in Information Systems at Mid Sweden University in Östersund, where my research focused on the design of e-health services, distance innovation development and the usefulness of information within manufacturing organizations. In 2020, I defended my doctoral dissertation in computer and systems science, "Benefits of Digital Technical information", which is about the benefits of digital technical information, such as assembling instructions. My teaching focused on scientific methods, media and communication, and information sharing. Before going back to academia, I was active in the business sector for over two decades. I worked with design and directing major development projects for societal critical services, like deliveries of pharmaceutical drugs; I also ran a company for several years with open innovation.
Why did you apply for the position as a postdoc at CTF?
- I think CTF is an exciting organization. There is a solid foundation with many different research areas and great curiosity in interesting areas, where e-health is one of them. The position was in e-health which made it extra attractive to me as I see it as an area with excellent development potential in the future. With my background in the business sector, I also see a valuable connection to the network related to CTF.
What will your research focus on?
- In my research, I will primarily focus on data and information linked to health aspects, such as home monitoring and school health care. These projects are at the start-up phase, and I am looking forward to seeing how we can use health data to create better health for individuals and services that will create better processes for the profession. I am also involved in discussions on creating data labs within the e-health domain.
Tell us a little about yourself - who is Karin Ahlin?
- I am a social and structured person who likes the outdoors, both at sea and on land. I enjoy belonging to a family of four generations, and I like to spend time with them. I do new projects on my house from time to time, and next in line is rebuilding a carport and the guest room.
