Welcome to ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Business School, Alexander Rodosek
2022-10-17Alexander Rodosek, visiting lecturer at ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Business School, works with developing teaching in a pedagogical perspective at the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law at the TH Köln University.
Can you tell us a more about your work?
– You could say that I’m a link between the Academic Development Team (the equivalent to UPE at ¹û¶³´«Ã½) och the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law, says Alexander Rodosek. I work with teachers who want to change their classical lectures and use more modern tools such as videos pods and other formats. I also assist the teachers in using various software in their teaching. The previous year, we worked a lot on automatic software support for examinations for large groups (170 to 400 students). The high standards of the exams are maintained, but cheating is prevented for distance students.
What are your duties at ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Business School?
– It’s about exchange and learning and about how teachers at ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Business School work and their different approaches, and how education and development of pedagogy is implemented at the organisational level. There are differences making the two universities interesting to compare. ¹û¶³´«Ã½ is a research university, while TH Köln is a vocational school focusing more on the practical work and connections to the industry. The way we structure our semesters are also completely different.
How did you come into contact with ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Business School?
– ¹û¶³´«Ã½ and TH Köln are official partner universities, which made the process of visiting very simple. I contacted ¹û¶³´«Ã½, since the size of the ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Business School, terms of students, staff, degree programmes, corresponds well to TH Köln. I used Erasmus+ for staff exchange and received a warm welcome by Niklas Jakobsson and Anders Hultqvist, as well as Candida MacKenzie, who took care of me and provided an introduction. It was important for me to gain some insight into the different departments of ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Business Schools, since they correspond to the ones I’m working with in Köln.
What are your expectations for your time here at ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Business School?
– I would love to get in contact with people who want to discuss teaching and examinations. I am in my office on campus, 11C285b, almost every day.
