LOCAL TEST (L-TEST) – JAZZ
Applicants to main instrument or vocals in the jazz genre are required to partake in the local entrance test (L-test) by submitting videos according to the instructions below.
The genre specialisation jazz at Ingesund School of Music includes traditional and modern jazz, but the musical content is often gathered from other related music genres such as blues, Latin, funk, pop, rock and soul. The common denominator for the jazz genre is that one of the main ingredients of the music is made up byÌýimprovised rhythmic interplay,Ìýwhere the individual musician develops his/her ability to improvise and communicate musically with other members of an ensemble.ÌýIt is through the improvisation component that jazz musicians can demonstrate their artistry and skill.Ìý
TEST COMPONENTS
Applicants are required to submit two separate video clips by Tuesday 25 April 2023 at 16:00 at the latest.ÌýInstructions regarding ID check and how to submit your videos will be sent via email after 17 April.
All applicants for the jazz genre record two songs of different character. One song should be triplet-based (e.g. swing or shuffle) and the other should be straight rhythm (e.g. beat or Latin). You must perform the theme as well as an improvised solo of both songs.
