Local test (LI-test) in Folk music
Applicants to main instrument or vocals in the folk music genre are required to partake in the local entrance test (L-test) by submitting videos of themselves playing/singing according to the instructions below.
The specialisation in folk music at Ingsund focuses on Swedish and Nordic folk music, but also invites international perspectives and music from other countries and cultures, as well as diving deep into the local folk music traditions of Värmland.
TEST COMPONENTS
Three separate video clips should be submitted no later than Tuesday 23 april 2024 at 16.00.
Two of the videos should be solo performances.ÌýSelect two songs of slightly different character that allows you to demonstrate your musical craftsmanship and your musical expression in the genre. If you are an instrumentalist, this could be a polka and a waltz. If you are applying as a vocalist, this could be a folk song including lyrics and word-less vocals.Ìý
The third video should be performed together with another musician or along with a prerecorded song.ÌýThis allows us to listen to you together with another musician. Choose one of the following options:
- Candidates applying to vocals sing a song to accompaniment, or sing second voice with another melody player/vocalist.
- Candidates applying to melody instruments accompany and play second voice with another melody player.
- Candidates applying to chord instruments accompany a melody player or vocalist.
- Candidates applying to percussion accompany a melody player or a group.
Note that the music you choose for your test should be rooted in Swedish or Nordic folk music, since that is specialisation offered at Ingesund School of Music.
Submit your pieces/songs as three separate video clips.ÌýInstructions regarding ID check and how to submit your videos will be sent via email after 17 April.
