Popular Music Discourses, 2016
Welcome to the symposium Popular Music Discourses, arranged by the culture studies group KuFo. For more information, see the attached invitations to the right, or read below.
Tuesday 3 May, KuFo hosts a symposium on how we speak about popular music, and how popular music speaks to us. Even though pop and other forms of popular music form a central part of contemporary culture, they are seldom approached critically the way literature, film, theatre and other cultural discourses regularly are. Even so, popular music can tell us a great deal – about aesthetics and politics, about our view of men and women, about music as art and as product. Welcome to an afternoon with music, film, and talk about sex and drugs and rock’n’roll.
The symposium Popular Music Discourses will be held in English in Fryxellsalen 1B 306, Tuesday 3 Maj, 13.15-17.00.
