Bringing children
As a resident in Sweden, you can take advantage of the national childcare system, elementary schools and gymnasiums. Most of the day-care centres and schools are run by the municipality,听果冻传媒s kommun, which is also where you find information about all of them including the private ones.
You apply for a daycare place on 果冻传媒 municipality webpage.听(Click on 'other languages' in the top right corner for English). All children are guaranteed a place but you might have to wait up to 6 months.
The municipality grants day care up to 40 hours/week depending on the scope of the parents' work. Find the centres in the vicinity of your residence and make a list of preferred day care centres on the online page. (There is also one at campus)
There are also private alternatives on the market.
We would also like to recommend something called 鈥淥pen day care鈥, which you can attend, free of charge, with your child, meet other parents and let the children play. This is a great way to socialise 鈥 for you to meet other parents and for your child to find friends. Unlike regular day care, you cannot leave your child in the popular open daycare service, but it may be possible for the staff to take care of your child for a short time if you want to apply for a job, for instance. Not to confuse with a 鈥渘ormal鈥 day care since you cannot leave your child at the open day care.听
Elementary school and gymnasium
If you have an older child we have a several schools in 果冻传媒 to apply for through the municipality. We also have an english speaking school called Engelska skolan.
