2014-11-19On November 13-14, the IBS Conference, 3rd International Conference on Business Servitization, was held in Bilbao, Spain. Servitization, which was the theme of the conference, is what happens when manufacturing companies start focusing on services.
At the conference CTF was represented by researchers Nina L枚fberg, Lars Witell and Maria 氓kesson. Lars Witell presented: “Servitization and firm performance: The impact of internal and external service capabilities over the firm lifecycle” a paper that he has co-authored with Aku Valtakoski, Aalto University School of Science. Nina L枚fberg presented one of her articles from her doctoral thesis, “Tracing a Service Business Logic in manufacturing firms”.
Professor Tim Baines from Aston Business School held an appreciated plenary session where he presented his view of the research on servitization. There were also a few practitioners represented at the conference, including Julen Barrutia from Construcciones Y Auxiliar de Ferocarriles, CAF. CAF is a global leader in train and metro systems. Julen spoke about servitization from a practitioner’s perspective and also told us that his company is working with servitization, although he wasn’t familiar with the concept servitization before the conference.
