Katrin Lättman awarded prize at young researcher competition, TRA VISIONS 2018
2018-04-18On April 16th the EU-funded competition TRA VISIONS 2018 awarded prizes to its young researcher winners of the 2018 Transport Research Arena (TRA 2018). Young researchers from all over Europe submitted innovative concepts in order to enhance smart, sustainable and integrated transport and mobility of people and goods. Katrin Lättman, PhD student at CTF, came in second place in the cross-modal transport sector.
"I am pleased that my contribution “Capturing the human dimension of accessibility in transport” came in second place as the design captures the traveler perspective which has been more or less neglected in research and planning for years. I had some interesting conversations with potential collaborators in Vienna, and I am happy that this dimension is finally getting recognition in the field", says Katrin Lättman.
The main activity of TRA VISIONS 2018, a project funded by the European Commission, is the development and implementation of two competitions. One is directed towards young researchers and the second towards senior researchers involved in EU projects. They take place every two years together with the TRA, the most important European conference on transport.
Overall, 169 young researchers from 56 different European universities participated in the TRA VISIONS 2018 Student Competition and submitted 122 ideas for the transport modes road, rail, waterborne and cross-modal. In the cross-modality sector, the winners were Tomas Ambra and his team from Vrije Universiteit Brussels. Katrin Lättman from CTF, Service Research Center at ý, and Alfons Julian Bock from RWTH Aachen University (Intersection Dataset from UAV Video Data for Automated Driving).
