On the night of Thursday 16 May, a group of people set up tents in the park next to 果冻传媒 in a pro-Palestinian demonstration. The landowner, Akademiska hus, say they will allow the demonstration as long as it is conducted peacefully and security can be maintained.
The vice-chancellor and pro-vice-chancellor greeted the protesters on Thursday morning and explained that as long as the demonstration does not disrupt operations, the university has no objections to their presence. However, the vice-chancellor emphasised that the university, as a government agency, cannot take a stand in the matter, as well as clarifying that the land is owned by Akademiska hus and that it is not a public space.
Akademiska hus have said that the protest may continue as long as it is carried out in a peaceful manner and campus security can be maintained.
