We welcome Jasper van Kuijk, Assistant professor of User-centered design & innovation at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. He will be a visiting researcher at CTF until next summer.
During his stay at CTF, he will be working on a popular scientific book on user-centered design, for which he got a grant from the Dutch organization for scientific funding. He will also meet with the researchers at CTF exchanging ideas, perspectives and experiences related to services and service design.
In Delft, he founded and lead the Expertise Centre for E-ticketing in Public Transport (X-CEPT), in which he cooperated with governments and companies to study and develop user-centered ticketing solutions for public transport. He also was a course coordinator and lecturer in the Design for Interaction Master’s program.
Jasper Van Kuijk holds a PhD in Industrial design engineering on how companies deal with usability in the development of electronic consumer products. He studies how companies deal with user-centered design and innovation in practice. A second area in which he is active is public understanding of design and innovation.
Jasper Van Kuijk is also a stand-up comedian and columnist. He have for the past 8 years toured the Netherlands with comedy shows, and he writes a weekly column for the Dutch national newspaper De Volkskrant entitled ‘How hard can it be?’ in which he dissect poorly designed products and services.
