Internationalisation in nursing
Do you want to discover a new academic world of studies, explore a new culture and increase your global expertise? As a student in nursing, you have the opportunity to apply for international exchange studies in various countries. You can also participate in international, digital activities from home.
Which countries are available to visit may vary depending on programme and which semester you want to go out on exchange studies. We have collaborations with the following countries: Norway, Finland, 脜land, Greenland, Denmark, the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Germany, Belgium, Vietnam, India and South Africa.
You have several opportunities for international experiences during your studies.
For those who are enrolled in the Study Programme in Nursing
- During the Study Programme in Nursing, you have the opportunity to do part of your studies or practical placement abroad.
- You can participate in lectures by international, visiting teachers.
- You can take on the duty of being mentor for visiting exchange students.
- You can participate in the internationalisation from home, due to various digital activities with international segments.
The Study Programme in Nursing provides the option to apply for international exchange studies at two occasions.听
- The fourth semester includes an elective course: Clinical Nursing in an International Context. This course includes a four-week practical placement abroad. The nature of this practical placement varies depending on the country you visit. Most countries offer practical placements at hospitals, but in South Africa, for example, the placement is focused more on a social community perspective. There, you follow a so-called non-governmental organisation (NGO) in their work at health centres or in shantytowns.
- In the sixth semester, you can apply for going abroad to write your degree project, for example as part of a project in India.
For those who are enrolled in the nursing specialisation programmes
- The programmes includes studying other cultures and their healthcare systems, in the form of lectures from visiting teachers, as well as study assignments.
- It is also possible study abroad for parts of the programme. Discuss your options with the course coordinators or the programme convenor. The available options will vary depending on your chosen specialisation. The requirement for studying abroad is that the qualitative targets of the programme must be met. This can sometimes be a problem since not all professional roles or courses have international equivalences.
