Lars Erik Persson
Bio
I am 75Ìýyears old but still I work very activelyÌýas Senior Professor in mathematcs at ¹û¶³´«Ã½ÌýUniversity in SwedenÌýand alsoÌýparttime as professor at UiT The Artic University of Norway. From 2005 I am also appointed as honorary professor at Eurasian National University, Astana, Kazakhstan. I have been supervisor for 63 students with PhD exams and additional 12 withÌýLicentiate exams. At the moment I am supervisor for six PhD students. The areas of research for all theseÌýstudents and theirÌýcurrent positions can be found in the page PhD exams below.
I was the President of the Swedish Mathematical SocietyÌý1996-1998 and I have beenÌý ordinary member 1995-2010 (secretary during 1995-2002) of the National Committee of Mathematics equipped with theÌý. Moreover, I initiated Center of Applied Mathematics at LuleÃ¥ University of Technology 1995 and was its Director till 2005.ÌýDuring 2008-2009 IÌý was director of Center ofÌý Interdisciplinar Mathematics (CIM) at Uppsala University.
If you want to know more about me and my scientific work you can look at my Curriculum Vitae below and my list of publications below.ÌýÌýSee also my remarkable list of coauthors/coeditors(at the momentÌýaround 170Ìýpersons fromÌý39 different countries!).
I am also interested in sport and have fullfilled the Swedish 90 km skiingÌýcompetition Vasaloppet 70 times (25 of themÌýas open track) with best time 4.56. I have also fullfilled 19 Marathons (42 km running) at 19 occasions with best time 2.49.
