Research
I received my PhD in Information Systems with the dissertation ‘Prototyping with purpose: Increasing participatory design with malleable interactive prototypes’ (). I focus on techniques and methods for involving users in system development processes. One such technique is by using interactive and malleable prototypes. In one of my studies, I used the prototypes to involve citizens in the development of a mobile application. In the other study, I conducted a number of workshops with upper secondary school students who had the opportunity to try designing systems together with their peers. My studies show that prototyping, among other aspects, gives users an informed voice in the development process. For the learners, prototyping served as a first introduction to democratic design processes and the role of the user in system interactions.Â
I am also involved in the Information System's User Lab and the development of the Ozlab prototyping system based on the Wizard-of-Oz methodology. /ozlab
I am part of the Interreg project Incredilab which now focuses on games to enable cross-border collaboration on climate issues and learning. I have previously participated in the projects of the CriseIT network: https://www.criseit.org/
Teaching
I'm teaching courses on user tests and interaction design:Â
- User tests, prototyping and evaluation
- Interaction design
- Prototyping: To explore and communicate design concepts
- Service management and information technology: E-BusinessÂ
- Co-design and user-centred systems development
I also teach and supervise students in many other Information Systems courses, such as the bachelor thesis course.
I'm interested in the meeting between gender equality, feminism and IT, and conduct a workshop on gender equality and IT in the course Acquisition of Information Systems (campus and distance).Â
I was previously the coordinator of the undergraduate programme Web and Multimedia (now Web developer).Â
