Seminar with Carolina Överlien, Professor in Gender-Related Violence and Health at NCK, Uppsala University

Title:��Violence in Young People’s Close Relationships, with a Special Focus on Sexual Violence

The lecture will be based on research on violence in young people’s close relationships, with a special focus on sexual violence. The starting point is a series of research studies on violence, which clearly show the importance of specifically addressing sexual violence. This is a form of violence that is taboo and has great potential for harm in many different ways for those who are exposed. Voices from young people who have been exposed, as well as young men who have exposed others, will be included.

Carolina Överlien is a professor in gender-related violence and health at NCK, Uppsala University. She has researched children and young people in vulnerable life situations for many years, and in the last 10 years, especially on violence in young people’s close relationships. Carolina has published a large number of scientific articles on children and violence, released several books, and is a co-editor of the Journal of Family Violence.

Two seminars on Project Support, an evidence-based intervention for families exposed to violence where the child has developed problem-creating behaviors.

The method is used in the social services. One of the founders of the method, Professor Renee McDonald, will be appointed honorary doctor at ������ý on 18 October. In connection with this, there will be an opportunity to meet her, partly at a workshop and network meeting for former participants in the contract education on Project support on October 16 and partly at a seminar/webinar that does not require prior knowledge of the method on October 17 and which will be arranged together with CBU.

Seminar with guest professor Alice Fothergill, Professor of Sociology, University of Vermont

Title: “Children, Youth, and Disaster: Lessons from Hurricane Katrina and the COVID-19 Pandemic.”

Her areas of scholarship and teaching include family and childhood studies, disaster vulnerability, gender, inequality, service learning, and qualitative methods. She has worked in the disaster sociology field since 1994.��
