The Uncanny in Literature, Film and Art
The course deals with the uncanny as a theoretical concept through the study of theoretical literature and examples of its manifestations in literature, film and art.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course, students should be able to:
- demonstrate substantial knowledge of the concept of the uncanny, its history and importance to different forms of aesthetic expression,
- demonstrate considerable skills in advanced aesthetic analysis,
- demonstrate considerable ability to identify academic problems with relevance to theories on the uncanny, and independently elaborate on these.
Prerequisites
Admission to doctoral programme in comparative literature and other doctoral students.
Examination
Assessment is individual and based on written assignments.
