Water as risk and resource in the Nordic context
The course deals with contemporary water challenges related to urban and regional planning in Sweden and the Nordic context. It is multidisciplinary and takes place in five full days spread out during the course period. The course language is English, and the following themes are brought up in lectures, seminars and workshops: The risk concept and flood risks, Water security and other drinking water challenges, Multilevel governance of marine spaces, lakes and water courses, Water and infrastructure. The course is examined with an individual written assignment and active participation in workshops and seminars. After having finished the course the PhD students should be able to describe contemporary water challenges in Sweden and the Nordic context, identify and evaluate different perspectives on contemporary water challenges in policy, practice and research, and identify and evaluate solutions to contemporary water challenges and proposals for sustainable water management.
