Spatial Planning in Practice
7.5 ECTS creditsStudents apply previously acquired knowledge to running a local planning project from start to the consultative stage. The project is continuously coordinated with an external project group giving feedback on the work. The focus is on the process of developing a local plan rather than the product. Therefore different roles, approaches, dialogues, and result presentation are discussed, and alternate with practical exercises in, for example, drafting, analysing and accounting. Students acquire knowledge of the basics of physical planning and its application and of the planning of public space. Students further study analysis models, formal local planning and implementation based on the Planning and Building Act.
Instruction is in the form of lectures, seminars, exercises and supervision. A major project is carried out in groups. Students also participate in meetings on a current local plan.
Supervision is provided for the course duration. Re-registered students are offered supervision only if circumstances permit.
