Pathology and prescription rights
15.0 ECTS creditsThis is a course in Medical Science (15 ECTS cr). Instruction is in the form of lectures. The course is a hybrid course (partly net-based, with on-campus meetings) and includes instruction and examination both online and at the university.
The course covers pharmacological concepts, their meaning and importance for the prescription and use of medicinal products. Pharmacological interactions and risks of medicine use are treated, based on FASS and the pharmaceutical handbook.
Pathology, diagnosis, examination, and pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment are treated in depth in relation to the different areas of the nurse's prescription rights. The nurse's prescription rights and pharmaceutical handling are treated in relation to ordinances and regulations, as well as age and gender aspects of pharmacological treatment.
Students practice assessing the need of medicinal products in terms of assessment support and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of various incontinence products, for example in relation to efficacy, cost, and sustainability. Prescription of pharmaceuticals and medical aids is studied, as well as pedagogy used for instructing patients in connection with prescriptions of medication.
