Main instrument IV, Western classical music
7.5 ECTS creditsStudents study, interpret and perform a given and independently chosen repertoire from different epochs of Western classical music. They also discuss and apply repertoire, style, musical analysis and interpretation as well as accounts of different phases in the rehearsing and performing process. The course includes complex technical exercises and notation sight-reading. Students, whose main instrument is the piano, practise accompaniment and all students play solo and chamber music repertoire requiring highly developed technical skills and good familiarity with style and performance praxis. Parts of the repertoire are performed in in-house as well as public concerts and in audition training. The course also includes discussion of their own learning process and the progress made in rehearsing and performing the chosen repertoire and critical reflection on different approaches to music performance. Instruction is in the form of tutorials, seminars and master classes.

Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
