Treatment Service in Drug Addiction Care
7.5 ECTS creditsThe aim of the course is that students deepen their knowledge of investigation and treatment in the area of drug abuse. Addiction and abuse are presented in an historical, cultural and social perspective. Students acquire knowledge of approaches, power and ethics in investigation and treatment. Empowerment and client participation are discussed in interaction with client organisations. Students deepen their knowledge of the exercise of authority by reviewing investigations and court verdicts under the Social Services Act and the Care of Alcoholics and Drug Abusers Act. Evaluation instruments and methods in current abuser care are presented as is evidence-based practice and its influence in the field. Current research and development with a focus on treatment are discussed in seminars. Campus meetings are in the form of lectures with group discussions.

Upper secondary school level Swedish 3 or B, or Swedish as a second language 3 or B and English 6 or B, or equivalent, plus either
- social work programme 150 ECTS course credits (SGGEN),
- professional degree in social work/social care, or
- Bachelor's degree in social work/social care
Selection:
Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
