Organization and leadership in social work
13.5 ECTS creditsInstruction is in the form of lectures, group exercises and laboratory sessions and seminars.
The course deals with basic organization theory with an emphasis on its application to the public sector and care-provideng organizations. Throughout the course, organizational phenomena are related to a gender and power perspective. There is a special focus on theories on change in organizations and understanding of change processes. Different steering models for public economy, financial control and the municipal budget process are treated. Also treated are issues of operational planning and economy management, especially of the social services, as well as leadership theories and methods, communication theory, conflict management and leadership. Students are expected to study the literature continually, partake in mandatory group exercises and attend lectures.
