Social Psychology II
30.0 ECTS creditsStudents develop their understanding of humans as social group beings. The course also prepares for further studies in social psychology.
Instruction is in the form of lectures, group assignments, and an independent project.
Module 1: Social Psychology Theory: Social Interaction, 7.5 ECTS Credits
The module provides knowledge of the theory of social interaction and rituals, and further develops the understanding and interpretation of complex everyday social interaction.
Module 2: Emotions in Organizations, 7.5 ECTS Credits
The module deals with advanced knowledge of emotions in organizations and companies with a special focus on emotions in hierarchical and "flexible" organizations, emotions and power, management strategies, and organizational change.
Module 3: Collecting and Processing Data on Human Interaction, 7.5 ECTS Credits
Students develop and deepen their knowledge of social psychology methodology. Both quantitative and qualitative methods are covered. Students construct research issues, design empirical studies and process qualitative and quantitative data. Through practical assignments, the students learn to identify the advantages and disadvantages of different methods of data gathering, as well as problematize aspects of ethics and trustworthiness in empirical research.
Module 4: Independent Project, 7.5 ECTS Credits
Students carry out a minor social psychology study related to a social psychological problem. The study is presented in writing and is discussed at a seminar.
