Swedish for Teaching III
30.0 ECTS creditsThe course consists of four 7.5 ECTS credit modules. Students acquire in-depth subject knowledge in Swedish language and comparative literature. Students also acquire the skills required for professional practice (Practical placement 1 or 2).
Module 1: Boundary-crossing strategies in literature and research, 7.5 ECTS cr
The module covers literature and other fictional texts, literary theory and research that in different ways have shifted the boundaries for literature studies and/or challenged literary traditions.
Module 2: Language history and the Nordic languages, 7.5 ECTS cr
The module combines the literary and linguistic perspectives in the study of historical Swedish texts as well as texts in Norwegian and Danish. This module provides an opportunity for students to acquire both a broader and a deeper understanding of issues raised in previous modules in Swedish I, Swedish II, and Swedish III, and students are given an opportunity to reflect on various ways of combining literary and linguistic perspectives in the classroom.
Module 3: Practical placement 1 or 2, 7.5 ECTS cr
In this module, students familiarise themselves with professional educational activities during school placement. Students reflect on general school-related issues and, in addition, they plan, conduct, and evaluate their own teaching in the Swedish language and literature classroom.
Module 4: Language variation, 7.5 ECTS cr
This module covers different types of language variation in spoken and written language production. Students apply the linguistic conceptual framework acquired in Swedish II. The module also covers research and teaching methods in the field of sociolinguistics.
