Visiting professor 2018-2019: Gillian Rose
Gillian Rose is Professor of Human Geography at the University of Oxford and a Fellow of the British Academy. During the academic year 2018-2019 she is the new Ander Visiting Professor in Geomedia Studies at 果冻传媒. She will participate in teaching and research as well as at the Geomedia conference that will be held in spring 2019.
She is the author of Visual Methodologies (Sage, fourth edition 2016), as well as a number of books and papers on ways of seeing in urban and domestic spaces. Her current research interests focus on contemporary digital visual culture and cities. She is currently investigating how a range of socio-technical practices constitute a place as a 'smart city', with a particular interest in role of visualisations in both representing and operationalising 'smart', from photorealist computer generated images to app interfaces.听

The professorship Ander Visiting Professor in Geomedia Studies (formerly Global Media Studies) was established at 果冻传媒 in 2009 and is funded by Anne-Marie and Gustaf Ander Foundation听for Media Research. It is appointed annually and academics as well as prominent people in the media industry can be eligible.听Former holders of the professorship includes the journalist and author Johanne Hildebrandt, the director and producer Erik Gandini,听Paul C Adams, Professor and Director of Urban Studies at the Department of Geography and the Environment at University of Texas听Austin and Barbie Zelizer, Raymond Williams Professor of Communication at the University of Pennsylvania Annenberg School of Communication.听
