The discipline of Social Work is part of the Department of Social and Psychological Studies. The institution also includes the disciplines Sociology, Psychology and Gender Studies.
The discipline of Social Work studies the conditions and experiences of socially vulnerable people. We look at causes and effects of social problems at individual, group and societal level. Studies also include how different efforts can be organised to prevent or remedy social problems.听Our most comprehensive study programme is the Bachelor of Science in Social Work (210 credits). We also offer a Master鈥檚 programme, freestanding courses and a doctoral programme in social work.

In the main field of social work you will acquire the knowledge and skills you need to be able to support people in socially vulnerable situations. You will help them develop, change, maintain and apply life strategies to manage their everyday life. The main field of study also includes knowledge and skills to critically examine, re-examine and develop social work in various forms.
