UBB - Centre for Child and Childhood Studies in Education and Sport.
At the UBB research centre, we take approaches from different traditions and fields of interest to concrete, specific and general issues related to children and childhood in educational contexts. From the autumn semester of 2010, UBB has been one of the university鈥檚 research centres on education, thereby strengthening the connection between research on preschools and early childhood education.
UBB comprises around 25 researchers and doctoral students with a wide spectrum of overlapping skills and theoretical approaches in areas such as learning and development in early childhood, values education, children鈥檚 rights and citizenship, social circumstances and the governance of education systems, teacher training, and the teaching profession. The group has produced a rich variety of scholarly, popular scientific and educational publications.
UBB鈥檚 research programme focuses on different aspects of instilling democratic values, against the backdrop of, on the one hand, contemporary antidemocratic trends, and on the other hand, a changed demographic landscape in Sweden that involves many newly arrived children and families in preschool operations.
UBB鈥檚 research aims to examine how democratic values are instilled and to create a wider understanding for the life and educational circumstances of children in the educational settings where children are influenced and changed.
UBB鈥檚 mission is to generate new knowledge of children, childhood and education, thereby contributing to the field of education.
